No Tax

There is a beautiful old hymn that goes “Count your blessings; name them one by one…And it will surprise you what the Lord has done…” How true it is! When you list God’s goodness, you will not stop praising Him. A heart of gratitude is the parent of all other good virtues.

A property inspector went to the house of a Christian. He said, “Give me the list of property you have. I want to levy tax.” That Christian man said, “Sir, I have a joyful heart”. “Is there anything else?” asked the inspector. He said joyfully, “Sir, I have a wonderful obedient wife who really cares for me and leads me in godly ways.” “Is there anything else?” asked the Inspector. “Yes Sir, I have wonderful godly children.” The Inspector closed the book and said, “You have plenty of riches. But, none of this can be taxed.”

Yes, beloved! There is no scale to measure the blessings of God. How true it is! They cannot be taxed. As you read through today’s portion in Psalm 103, you cannot stop singing praises to God who gives richly all things to enjoy. Today, try to list all the blessings you have received from God’s hands. Take time to give thanks to Him. He loves the sacrifice of thanksgiving. God is a good God. He is worthy of praise.

Prayer

“Loving heavenly Father, immeasurable are the blessings that I have received from You. I thank You for all spiritual blessings and earthly blessings. Help me to bless others with all of my blessings. Let rivers of life flow from my heart. Give me a heart full of gratitude always. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Blessing For Today

Every day we must know the plans that the Lord has kept in store for our lives. The Lord has given us His word to reveal His plans to us. He reveals His plans through the word of God as we read it with reverence and prayer. When we hear His voice through our meditation of His word our hearts will burn like fire filled with joy (Psalm 39:3). Then as we follow it with proclamation of those words through the power of the Holy Spirit through our prayer, the blessings of that day will come upon us. Not only the blessings, but the grace of God shall come upon us to carry out that day’s work.  We have compiled the Bible passage for you to read as well as the Lord’s revelation for each day. We pray that through this the Lord may give you the grace to be connected to Him throughout this year.
