Manx

Manx Gaelic (Gaelg) is the native language of the Isle of Man (Ellan Vannin), which a self-governing British island in the Irish Sea between Britain and Ireland. It is a Gaelic language related to Irish Gaelic (Gaeilge) and Scots Gaelic (Gàidhlig) but with its own orthography closer to English style spelling. The language is regulated by the Manx Gaelic Advisory Council (Coonceil ny Gaelgey). Since 1985 Manx has been an official language of the Isle of Man along with English.

Manx Apocrypha 1772

The Manx New Testament was first published in 1767. The books of the Wisdom of Solomon (Creenaght Solomon) and the Wisdom of Jesus son of Sirach (Creenaght Yeesey Mac Sirach) or Ecclesiasticus from the Apocrypha were published by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK) with the Manx Old Testament in 1772. The whole Bible as one unit, but excluding the Apocrypha, was first published by SPCK in 1775.

Digital Edition

These 2 books of the Apocrypha were digitised in 2016, from an original copy of the 1772 Manx Bible in the British and Foreign Bible Society (BFBS) archives in Cambridge with the help of Mission Assist. These were put online to mark the 250th anniversary of the first Manx New Testament.
