The Table

DAY 7 OF 7

The Feast Waiting For You

DEVOTIONAL

The empty chair you started this week wondering about does not stay empty. It ends the story full, at the greatest feast there will ever be.

Over these seven days we have followed one piece of furniture through the whole story. A table already prepared. A broken man seated like a son, his limp hidden beneath it. A prodigal welcomed home with a robe, a ring and a feast. A seat that is pure gift. A table laid out in the presence of every enemy. And a meal Jesus gave us to keep reminding us we belong. All of it has been building towards something.

The Bible ends not with a courtroom but with a wedding feast. John hears what sounds like a great multitude roaring, Hallelujah, for the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. And then an angel says, write this: blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. The whole story of God has been moving towards a table, and you are on the guest list.

This is why Jesus, at that last supper, said He would not eat it again until it finds its fulfilment in the kingdom of God. The table now is a foretaste. Every meal with Him here is a rehearsal for the feast that never ends, where there is no more shame at the door, no more wondering whether you belong, no more limp to hide. Just you, home, at the table, forever.

So the question you carried into day one, is there a place for me, has an answer. Yes. There is a seat with your name on it, set in grace, sealed in covenant, kept for the feast. You belong. So come, and sit down.

REFLECTION

If your belonging is this certain, set in grace and kept for an eternal feast, how does that change the way you carry yourself today?

TAKE A SEAT

Live today as someone with a guaranteed seat at the feast. When shame says you don't belong, answer it with the end of the story: "There is a place for me, and I am heading to the feast."

PRAYER

Father, thank You that the table I sit at now is only a foretaste of the feast to come. Thank You that there is a seat with my name on it, kept for me forever. Settle the question in me once and for all: I belong. Help me live like it. Amen.

About this Plan

The Table

Underneath the noise, most of us are asking one question: is there a place for me? Over seven days, sit at a table you didn't set and can't earn, and let it answer the ache of shame and not-enough. From Mephibosheth's hidden limp to the prodigal's robe and ring to the feast at the end of the story, discover that belonging was never something you earn at the door. It's what you find when you finally sit down.
