Preparing the Bride

DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2: Adding to Your Faith

Reading: 2 Peter 1:5–9

Devotional Faith is the foundation, but it is not the finish line. Peter calls believers to actively supplement their faith with moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, patient endurance, godliness, genuine affection for others, and love. This is not a list of requirements for earning salvation. It is a portrait of a disciple who is growing. Peter makes clear that whoever lacks these qualities has become spiritually nearsighted, forgetting that they were cleansed from sin and called to something more. A bride preparing for her groom does not remain exactly as she was on the day she got engaged. She actively readies herself. Spiritual maturity is not measured by how many years you have been saved. It is measured by how much time you have invested in God's presence and how that investment is showing up in your character. Which of these qualities needs the most attention in your life right now?

Reflection: Where is your spiritual growth most stagnant? What is one practical step you can take this week to cultivate that area?

Prayer Lord, I do not want to be a believer who stops growing. Show me where I have plateaued and give me the hunger to go deeper. Develop in me the character of Christ, not all at once, but faithfully, one day at a time. In Jesus' name, Amen.

About this Plan

Preparing the Bride

Jesus is coming back for a bride who is ready. Not perfect, but prepared. Not finished, but faithfully growing. This 5-day devotional is a call to stop waiting passively and start living with purpose. God has already given you everything you need. The question is what you are doing with it. Each day builds on the last, moving from recognizing what you already have to actively cultivating it, to finishing well when He arrives.
