Back to the Basics 365Sample

“There is no God!” Did you know that there's a verse in the Bible that states this? However, that is only part of the story. The full verse is found in Psalm 14:1, which states, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."
Obviously, understanding the complete context of a passage is crucial because, without it, you can easily misinterpret or develop distorted doctrines from the Bible. When reading your Bible, always consider the context. Ask questions like the following: Who is writing this verse? To whom was this part of the Bible addressed? When in history was this written? What was the main message the author intended for the reader?
These are just some helpful questions to guide your study and deepen your understanding. As you read, you will begin to ask questions of your own, and the Holy Spirit will help you to understand and interpret Scripture as you study more.
