The Divine Exchange: Trading Your Plans for God’s PurposeSample

Trading My Plan for His
One morning, I sat at my table surrounded by the remains of my former “empire”: folders, business plans, strategy papers — all the impressive evidence that I once knew exactly what I was doing. I felt God nudge me to lay them down. So, I gathered everything and whispered the simplest (and hardest) prayer: “Lord, this was mine. Now it’s Yours.”
I half-expected a thunderclap or at least a confirmation text from Heaven — something dramatic like at the time of Jesus' baptism. Instead, there was quiet. But not the awkward kind. The kind that settles your heart because you know something unseen just shifted.
That day, I traded my perfectly outlined plan for God’s unpredictable one. I stopped managing God’s vision like a project and began trusting Him like a partner. And just like that, new doors began to open. Not the kind I had spent years knocking on — but ones I didn’t even know existed. Opportunities to publish, mentor, and minister started unfolding naturally, almost like grace had been waiting for me to stop trying so hard.
In hindsight, I realise I didn’t lose a business — I gained an assignment. And God’s business, I must say, has far better benefits.
Lesson
When you hand over your plans to God, you don’t lose direction — you find destiny. His plan may not come with spreadsheets or guarantees, but it comes with peace, provision, and purpose. Don’t fear the unknown; fear running your own show without Him. Because what He builds through surrender stands longer than what we build through strategy.
