Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 65 OF 365

For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV).

Do you obey God’s word even when you are in the minority?

In today’s reading, we witnessed a striking truth: out of the multitude delivered from Egypt, only two adult males, Joshua and Caleb, were granted entry into the Promised Land. Consider this: among over 603,550 men (excluding the Levites, as seen in Numbers 1:46–47), only two displayed unwavering faith in God’s word despite witnessing the ten plagues on Egypt and the parting of the Red Sea.

Moses specifically highlights Caleb, stating, “he shall see it, and to him and his children I am giving the land on which he walked, because he wholly followed the LORD” (Deuteronomy 1:36 NKJV).

God said Israel would be given the promised land. The majority of Israel rejected God’s word due to hardships, while Joshua and Caleb trusted God’s promises, and the faithfulness of these men pleased the Lord.

This passage illustrates the contrast between the faithfulness of Joshua and Caleb and the doubt of the multitude, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of unwavering faith in God's promises, even when in the minority.

Employment Point: Believe God’s Word and obey it to please Him.
