Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood (Hebrews 7:24 NKJV).
Why is Jesus a superior High Priest?
Unlike earthly priests, Jesus’ priesthood is everlasting. The priests of the Old Testament mediated between God and the people, yet their service was temporary. Creatively, the author of Hebrews compares Jesus to Melchizedek, who had no recorded genealogy, symbolizing a priesthood without end (see Hebrews 7:3).
As our High Priest, Jesus continually intercedes on our behalf, making the New Covenant far superior to the Old. When you feel distant from God, remember that Jesus’ priesthood ensures constant access to Him. He is always near, forever bridging the gap.
Employment Point: Rely upon your superior High Priest who continually intercedes for you.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
