Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 1:6 NKJV).
Do you imitate Paul and Jesus by obeying God despite persecution?
Isaiah 50 speaks of the coming Messiah (Jesus), who would set His face toward the cross, enduring shame and suffering for our sake: “The Lord God has opened My ear; and I was not rebellious, nor did I turn away. I gave My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting” (Isaiah 50:5–6 NKJV).
Paul, who was Jesus’ apostle to the Gentiles, encouraged the Thessalonian believers to obey God even in the face of persecution “so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe” (1 Thessalonians 1:7 NKJV).
Are you willing to follow Christ's example, no matter the cost? Sometimes, obedience leads to opposition, but we are called to walk the path of suffering, knowing it pleases God. How can you remain steadfast when following Christ becomes difficult? When faced with opposition, remember that you are in good company—Jesus, Paul, and many saints have walked this path before you.
Employment Point: Walk persecution’s path like Jesus, Paul, and the Thessalonian saints, to please God.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
