Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 251 OF 365

There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; and one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches (Proverbs 13:7 NKJV).

Have you made yourself poor to become rich?

Paul wrote to the Corinthians about the importance of giving with a generous heart. The prime example of this is Jesus. He left heavenly riches, becoming poor, to make us rich. “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9 NKJV).

Reflect on how you approach wealth. Are you focused on accumulating things for yourself, or are you finding ways to bless others? Follow Jesus’ example by giving unselfishly. It’s through this kind of sacrificial giving that you’ll find true richness in God’s eyes.

Employment Point: Imitate Jesus and make yourself poor to become rich.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
