Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 247 OF 365

Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does so destroys his own soul (Proverbs 6:32 NKJV).

Are you chasing love or lust?

In today’s reading, Paul encouraged the Corinthians to use their spiritual gifts properly, focusing on love rather than personal gain. He also reminded them that love should never be selfish (1 Corinthians 13:5). Proverbs warns us about lust and urges us to guard our hearts. “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV).

What’s filling your heart—true love or harmful desires? I hope you’re seeking a genuine love for God and those around you, while also keeping your heart protected from anything that might lead you astray.

Employment Point: Pursue loving God and your spouse while guarding your heart.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
