Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 244 OF 365

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup (1 Corinthians 11:28 NKJV).

Are you taking time to examine your life?

Socrates once said that the unexamined life isn’t worth living. Paul took this idea further, warning us that neglecting to examine ourselves spiritually can have serious consequences. The Corinthians faced issues like weakness and illness because they didn’t address their sins properly. Before taking part in the Lord’s Supper, Paul advised them to take a moment to confess their sins (see 1 Corinthians 11:27-30).

This is something we should do too. If you have any unconfessed sins, now is the time to be honest with yourself and seek forgiveness. Remember, God is always ready to forgive and cleanse us when we come to Him with a sincere heart.

Employment Point: Regularly examine yourself before God and confess any known sin.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
