Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry (1 Corinthians 10:14 NKJV).
Where do you find your security?
In today’s Psalm, David cries out to God for help from a cave, possibly hiding from Saul or Absalom. He has an open and honest relationship with God, saying, “I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble” (Psalm 142:2 NKJV). Are you as transparent with God as David was?
David didn’t rely on idols for safety. Instead, he said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living” (Psalm 142:5 NKJV). The term “refuge” means shelter, and David trusted God alone for his protection and help.
Just as David believed God would act on his behalf, we should place our trust entirely in the living God. Take a moment right now and reflect on where you seek security in your life. Make God your refuge and trust Him to be your protector and guide.
Employment Point: Cry out to the living God as your shelter in a time of storm.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
