Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases (Psalm 115:3 NKJV).
Who do you depend on for wise counsel?
Many people in Israel turned to idols for guidance, relying on lifeless objects for wisdom. The psalmist points out their mistake: “Those who make them [idols] are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them” (Psalm 115:8 NKJV). Those who create idols are just as misguided as those who believe in them.
In Corinth, people valued the wisdom of famous philosophers, but Paul highlights its limits. He asks in 1 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV), “Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” True wisdom doesn’t come from idols or human ideas; it comes from Jesus Christ, who, according to Paul, holds “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3 NKJV).
Instead of relying on worldly wisdom, seek guidance from Jesus. Spend time in prayer and Scripture to find true wisdom in Him.
Employment Point: Pursue the Almighty God’s wisdom through Jesus Christ.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
