Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

How long will you torment my soul, and break me in pieces with words? (Job 19:2 NKJV).
When facing verbal or physical threats, where do you find refuge?
Today’s scripture paints vivid pictures of danger. Job endures the cutting words of his wife & friends, while Paul faces deadly plots. Yet, their responses reveal a common thread of reliance on God.
Job, despite his wife’s urging, looks to his Redeemer, affirming faith in life beyond earthly struggles (Job 19:25–26). Likewise, when Paul’s life is targeted, he seeks solace among Jesus’ followers, finding acceptance through the encouragement of Barnabas (Acts 9:23).
Both men demonstrate the power of turning to God in terrible times. In moments of peril, let us follow their example, finding strength and protection in the Lord’s presence.
Employment Point: Trust in Jesus, who can secure you physically and spiritually.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
