Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me (Mark 8:34 NKJV).
What does it mean to serve Jesus?
When Jesus intercepts Paul, the future apostle’s life takes a dramatic turn. In just eight words, Paul’s transformed heart echoes, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” (Acts 9:6 NKJV). This simple question reveals his surrender to Jesus’ will. Jesus had specific plans for Paul, as He told Ananias, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel” (Acts 9:15 NKJV).
Paul’s life illustrates what it means to serve Jesus: being obedient to His commands and fulfilling the role He assigns. Let us be like Paul and yield to Jesus, being ready to embrace His calling and proclaim His name to all people, regardless of their background or status.
Employment Point: Ask not what Jesus can do for you, but what you can do for Him.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
