Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 168 OF 365

They perceived that this work was done by our God (Nehemiah 6:16 NKJV).

What is the result of unity in your local church?

The early church faced a daunting mission: to spread the gospel worldwide (Acts 1:8). Their success stemmed from their unity. Luke notes, “They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42 NKJV). This unity led to remarkable outcomes.

The believers grew in their knowledge of Scripture and demonstrated sacrificial love, selling their possessions to help those in need (Acts 2:45). This generosity and care fostered a vibrant community.

So, “the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47 NKJV). The early church’s unity and commitment to each other and God’s Word created an environment ripe for divine action, resulting in significant growth. Their example shows that unity in the local church fosters community, encourages sacrificial living, and paves the way for miraculous growth as God adds to the church.

Employment Point: Humbly and sacrificially work together to accomplish great things for God.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
