Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days (Nehemiah 1:4 NKJV).
How should you respond to brokenness?
Upon receiving the distressing news of his people's trouble and the ruined state of the walls in Jerusalem, Nehemiah is deeply moved (Nehemiah 1:2–3). This stirring or brokenness within him sets the stage for divine intervention. What made Nehemiah great was that he did something about his brokenness. His prayer and hard work would result in a massive building project that would protect his people!
Please know that God uses broken people. Understanding our own brokenness and embracing humility before God equips us for impactful service and alignment with His divine plans. Following Nehemiah's example, we allow compassion to stir our hearts and respond with humility, always being ready to roll up our sleeves and work for the good of our brothers and sisters in the faith.
Employment Point: Anticipate God doing great things through your brokenness.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
