Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year TwoSample

Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul (Matthew 10:28 NKJV).
Are you willing to risk your life for the Lord?
In the story of Esther, Mordecai urges Esther to use her position to save their people from destruction by the Jew-hating Haman. He believes God placed Esther as queen for this very purpose, trusting in God's sovereignty. Mordecai tells Esther, "Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14 NKJV). The queen ended up risking her life for her people, and God delivered her from danger.
Likewise, Peter and the apostles defy orders to stop preaching the gospel, declaring, "We must obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29 NKJV). These men were willing to die for Jesus, who had died to save their souls! Despite threats from power leaders, the apostles are delivered and are not killed.
Stand for Jesus, trusting in His providence and obeying His commands, even if it means risking your life.
Employment Point: Risk your life for Jesus because He gave His life for you.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
