Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 154 OF 365

Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He (John 13:19 NKJV).

How does Jesus' ability to know future events offer encouragement for us today?

God is not controlled by time, since He created it. He knows the past, present, and future perfectly. Our all-knowing God foretold Rehoboam’s divided kingdom (2 Chronicles 10:15). The words “I am” in John 13:19 point to Jesus’ divinity, equal to God the Father (Exodus 3:13–14). Jesus informed His followers of a traitor among them to help them grasp His deity. He also foretold Peter’s denials (John 13:36–38), which later perfectly came to pass.

Whatever storm you may be going through, be encouraged because your loving Lord is there! Take comfort knowing that Jesus knows the outcome of your circumstances. Your ultimate outcome is being with Him forever, where His perfect knowledge and love will bring eternal peace and joy. However, in the present, know that He cares for you, and that you can trust Him because He knows your future!

Employment Point: Trust Jesus wholly because He knows your past, present, and future.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
