Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 100 OF 365

And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to His work (Revelation 22:12 NKJV).

When does a master serve a slave?

In today’s reading, Jesus starts His parable, urging readiness by saying: “Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning” (Luke 12:35 NKJV). Essentially, always be prepared to serve your master. In the parable, He blesses the vigilant servants, promising to serve them upon his return: “Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching... he will gird himself...and will come and serve them” (Luke 12:37 NKJV). Can you imagine the Son of Man serving you upon his return?

As believers, we await Jesus's return, uncertain of its timing. Therefore, the call to vigilance is vital. As we anticipate the Rapture, let's persevere in serving the Master without growing weary. The prospect of our Master and Lord, Jesus, serving us upon his return should energize us, keeping our focus on the ultimate reward of being with Him!

Employment Point: Faithfully serve the Master, and He will serve you upon returning.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
