Love It! 30 Days of Inspiration in Psalm 119Sample

Day 20 Psalm 119 Hope in God’s Word
Today, let’s approach the Word of the Lord as a delight, not a duty. I’m discovering this ancient practice in a new, practical way. Our hearts should open not in obligation, but in hope, knowing that His Word will meet us where we are.
The Lord wants to speak to us. Often, our problem is that our lives are crowded with so many competing voices that He has no room. He wants to be known by believers and be the inspiration of our lives. He seeks to capture our attention and encourages us to listen to His message through the Holy Spirit.
Do you willingly devote your morning or evening time to immersing your mind in the Living Truth? I once heard a message by my pastor who spoke about his relationship with God and studying the Bible. After listening to his message, I was inspired to adopt a new habit to get up early. It was hard because it meant that I would get up before the sun. However, that one decision has now turned into a daily habit that still inspires me today. How fun to get out of bed with anticipation of what the Lord will reveal to you today!
It also has made a big difference to hear myself read it aloud with a compassionate and tender voice instead of a voice of condemnation and shame. What a transformation that one little switch can make.
As we spend time reading the Bible each day, we can look deeply into the passages and begin a conversation with God. Prayer is talking with God and listening to what He wants us to know. It’s a powerful resource available to every believer. And listening to the gentle voice of God will work powerfully in our lives. What He says to you will be understood in your heart.
Prayer and meditation on God’s Word provide us with a new level of hope. The more time we spend with God, the more we will be like Him. We are changed by the power of God’s truth as He transforms our minds. When we look for Him, He promises to be found.
Question: What would it take for you to be eager to hear from God?
Prayer: Lord, help me take time for you. Show me your love for my soul. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
