Love It! 30 Days of Inspiration in Psalm 119Sample

Day 24 Psalm 119:169–176 Let My Cry Come Before You
We conclude Psalm 119, with the last Hebrew alphabet "Taw." This letter signifies “completion, a mark, or a seal,” and is associated with themes of truth, perfection, and the fulfillment of God's promises. These final verses beautifully emphasize the psalmist's reliance on God's Word and commandments, seeking understanding and rescue.
Some Christian interpretations connect the letter “Taw” to Jesus, particularly through the symbol of the cross, and see it as a representation of salvation and the fulfillment of God's promises. Salvation begins our relationship with God and then, over time, grows to be complete throughout our Christian journey.
As we look to the Lord for our salvation and lean on him more and more during life’s trials, we grow to love, trust, and obey His Word with joy. The obedient and repentant believer can pray with confidence, receive forgiveness, and God’s strength to carry on.
We’ve seen a lot of heart cries for God’s justice and righteousness against wicked persecutors in this long psalm. However, the psalmist ends with a confession of personal sin. This says volumes about what our attitude should be when others hurt us. Our prayers for God’s justice against the wicked ought to be accompanied by prayer for God’s mercy to us. Because we have been forgiven for much, we also, in turn, forgive those who have sinned against us.
This honest, repentant confession is relayed so well in the word picture of a shepherd and his sheep. We are all sinners who stray from the flock and need the Good Shepherd to find us and return us to the fold.
We all need to keep God’s commandments firmly fixed before us. And as we’ve seen time and time again in this psalm, it’s not enough simply to know God’s Word; we must also get to know the Author and obey what He tells us to do in His Word.
God’s word is truth. No passage of scripture praises the truth of God’s word more than Psalm 119. May we all love and live God’s law!
Question: How will you keep seeking God even when you wander?
Prayer: Lord, keep my heart fixed on Your Word, guide me when I wander, and help me walk in obedience and love all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
