Love It! 30 Days of Inspiration in Psalm 119Sample

Day 19 Psalm 119:137–144 Righteous are You, O Lord
The letter "Tsadhe" symbolizes justice and righteousness, pointing both to who God is and to the kind of life His people are called to live. Understanding this letter moves us beyond knowledge into practice, living wisely by walking in step with God’s righteous ways.
The shape of the letter is sometimes interpreted as a person kneeling in humility and submission before God, while also having an upward-reaching hand, symbolizing praise and devotion. This idea of righteous living is a combination of humility and commitment to God's will. It can also signify pulling up something, such as a fishhook, or bringing hidden things to light.
How many times in life are we asked to make the choice of following the world or Jesus Christ? Here, the writer makes the declaration that even though he is despised, hated, left out, or rejected, he will not turn his back on God’s ways. Perhaps coming from the war within, we all face this kind of decision from time to time. It’s the holy tension that asks this question and can only be answered by following God’s ways of righteous living.
Righteousness is not just about avoiding sin but also about actively pursuing God's will and living according to His standards. The psalmist demonstrates this by declaring God's righteousness and expressing his love for God's word, even when facing opposition. Every choice of truth is choosing righteousness that aligns with God’s ways.
God's righteousness, the purity of His word, and the need for believers to align their lives with His standards encourages believers to trust in God's righteousness, follow His commandments, and seek understanding of His word. We are not righteous by our own merit but only through the spilled blood of Jesus Christ.
Additionally, Psalm 119:142 says, “Your justice is eternal, and your instructions are perfectly true.” This verse again reminds us that God’s Word is eternal with no end, and the laws of God are undeniably true. There are no gray areas when it comes to what God says. Truth and righteousness belong to Him and Him alone.
Question: How does God’s righteousness anchor your faith?
Prayer: God, align my life with your Truth. Teach me your righteous ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
