Day 15 Psalm 119:105–112 Your Word is a Lamp

To walk safely in the woods at night, we need a light, so we don’t trip over tree roots or fall into holes. In this life, we walk through a dark forest of evil. But the Bible can be our light to show us the way ahead, so we won’t stumble as we walk. It reveals the entangling roots of false values, lies, and empty philosophies.

Study the Bible so you will be able to see your way clear and stay on the right path. The Hebrew word “Nun” symbolizes "life," and "growth.”, emphasizing the reliability and sustaining power of God's Word as it guides. Much like a lamp illuminating a path, God’s Word shines His light on His ways and encourages us to follow Him.

Psalm 119:105 is illuminating, "Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." God's Word is the written or spoken message of God, as well as the person of Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh and the Living Word.

The Word of God is like a light in your hand, illuminating truths about the story of God, His character, and His ways. The guidance found in God’s Word is timeless and without fault. His Word is absolutely true, and His instructions are trustworthy. He keeps every promise made to you, and His commands are like beams of light pointing us back to Himself. His Word isn’t a spotlight illuminating your past sins and mistakes. Rather, it shines the truth of His heart and character on His ways. It helps us understand the difficult questions and enables us to make hard choices.

It makes the path forward clearer and shines His love onto your path so that you can see your way back to Him. You won’t have to grope for a handle to hold onto because He has a hold of you. He wants you to come near so that He can love you and hold you close. He teaches us His defining lines of love. He hems us in and comforts us with His perfect love and endless mercy.
