35 Day Prayer PlanSample

Intercession
Intercession is standing in the gap for others, praying for their needs before God. It reflects Christ’s own heart, as He continually intercedes for us. Through intercession, we participate in God’s mission of love, justice, and redemption for others.
Day 8 – Interceding for the Lost
Prayer is not only about our needs but also about aligning our hearts with God’s mission. Paul reminds us that interceding for others, especially for those who do not yet know Christ, pleases God. His heart desires for everyone to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. When we pray for the lost, we are stepping into the very desire of God.
Interceding for the lost begins with compassion. Jesus Himself looked at the crowds and had compassion, seeing them as sheep without a shepherd (Matthew 9:36). Our prayers should reflect that same heart, asking God to open blind eyes, soften hard hearts, and draw people to Himself.
But intercession also requires perseverance. We may pray for months or years before seeing someone turn to Christ. Yet every prayer matters. Each one is a seed planted, watered by God’s Spirit, and used in ways we may never see.
Praying for the lost also changes us. As we lift names before the Father, our love for them deepens. As we align our hearts with His desire, this intercession will drive us to seek opportunities to share the gospel and embody Christ’s love in our actions.
Today, make a list of people in your life who need Jesus. Bring them before God in prayer, trusting He hears and is at work. Ask Him to give you boldness, compassion, and faith as you intercede for their salvation.
