Through the Word: Knowing God, Making Him KnownSample

How to Share the Gospel, the 5-Finger Gospel Tool:
The Gospel is good news—the best news! It’s the message that Jesus came to save us, offering eternal life, forgiveness, and peace with God. As believers, we’re called to share this good news with others, but sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start or how to even do it! One simple and memorable way to share the Gospel is with the Five-Finger Gospel. Each finger represents a key part of the Gospel message that you can easily remember and explain. Here’s how it works:
The Five-Finger Gospel
1. Thumb - Perfection (Garden of Eden)
The green thumb represents God's perfect creation in the Garden of Eden. Everything He made was good, and He created us to live in a perfect relationship with Him. God designed us to live in harmony with Him, in peace and perfection.
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good...” (Genesis 1:31 NIV)
2. Pointer Finger - Sin (We Go Our Own Way)
The pointer finger reminds us that we’ve all sinned and turned away from God's perfect design. Just like we point and go our own way, sin separates us from God and leads us down paths of destruction.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23 NIV)
3. Middle Finger - Hell (A Place for the Devil and his followers)
The middle finger represents the reality of hell, a place separated from God, meant for the devil and his followers. Sin leads to eternal separation from God, and hell is the ultimate consequence for rejecting Him.
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.'” (Matthew 25:41 NIV)
4. Ring Finger - Jesus' Life and Love (The Ultimate Sacrifice)
The ring finger represents the life and love of Jesus. Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross to take the penalty for our sins. His love for us was so great that He gave His life to save us from hell and bring us back into a relationship with God.
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13 NIV)
5. Pinky Finger - The Pinky Promise (The Holy Spirit)
The pinky finger represents the Holy Spirit, the "pinky promise" of God’s presence and power in our lives. When we accept Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us, guiding, comforting, and empowering us to live as God intends.
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.” (John 14:16-17 NIV)
