The Meaning of LifeSample

Eternal destiny – where will I spend eternity?
Without understanding what happens after we die, it is impossible to live a meaningful life.
Many people try to avoid the reality of eternity.
My wife once spoke to a woman and said something about life after death. The lady just cut her off by saying: I prefer not to think or talk about life after death. This is denial. This is avoiding one of the most basic realities of life.
Billions try to avoid the question about where they will go after they die. They try to avoid the question by focusing on hard work, indulging in every kind of pleasure, building lives and “empires” (big and small) for themselves where they can feel secure, important, and in need of nobody and nothing.
Deep in our hearts, even if we pretend that it doesn’t bother us, there is this nagging question about where we will go when we die.
In Hebrews 9:27 (BSB), we read: “Man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment.” We will not only die but also face judgment. For the Christian, there is no fear of death or the judgment of God. In 1 Corinthians 15:54-55 (BSB), Scripture says: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting?” The victory over death is through the victory of Jesus when He rose from the dead (verses 55-56).
As Christians, we believe in a life after death, eternal life. Here are a few Scriptures on eternal life:
John 3:16 (NIV): "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Romans 6:23(NIV): "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
1 John 5:11 (NIV): "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son."
John 17:3 (NIV): "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
Titus 1:2 (NIV):"…the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time."
All the pain and suffering of this world is swallowed up by the eternal reality of heaven and being with God forever.
As Christians, we live our lives in light of eternity, and we make our choices in light of the reality of eternity.
