Day 18: Jairus – Strength to Believe Beyond Fear

Scripture: Luke 8:40-56
Key Verse: “Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.’” – Luke 8:50

Yesterday’s story introduced us to a man named Jairus who came to see Jesus, only to have the journey interrupted by the woman who had been bleeding. Today, we will focus on the second part of the story.

Jairus was a respected synagogue leader, but when his daughter was dying, his status didn’t matter. Only Jesus could help. In desperation, he fell at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come. But before they could reach his home, a delay occurred.

While Jesus paused to heal the woman with the issue of blood, Jairus received devastating news: his daughter was dead. It must have felt like all hope was gone. But Jesus turned to him, saying, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

Jairus had a choice: he could let fear take over or trust Jesus even when the situation seemed impossible. He chose faith, and as a result, he witnessed a miracle: his daughter was brought back to life.

Sometimes, delays test our faith. We may feel like time is running out or God isn’t moving fast enough. But just as Jesus proved to Jairus, God’s timing is never too late. Human circumstances do not limit his power. Faith invites us to trust that God is still working even when fear overwhelms us.

Prayer Focus: Ask God for the strength to trust Him in the face of fear, believing He is never late and always faithful.
