Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year One

DAY 239 OF 365

Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble (1 Corinthians 8:13).

Do you regulate your food and drink choices with Christian love?

The Corinthians had a couple of choices when purchasing their meat. They could go to the market and pay the full price for meat. Their other option is to purchase the leftover meat not used in the sacrifices at the local temple. The latter choice comes at a discount, but some believers would want nothing to do with this option or food because of its association with idols. Although God has declared all food clean, we shouldn’t partake of anything that causes a brother to stumble. The apostle writes, “It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak” (Romans 14:21).

Employment Point: Let love for your brothers and sisters in Christ govern your Christian liberty.

About this Plan
