Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You (Psalm 119:11).
How can a young person have victory over sin?
The psalmist asks and answers, "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word” (Psalm 119:9). Pursuing God to know Him up close and personal takes maximum effort. “With my whole heart I have sought You,” continues the poet, “Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!” (Psalm 119:10). Jesus, in His humanity, exemplifies a passion to know and please His Father. Before entering the ministry, our Lord “fasted forty days and forty nights” (Matthew 4:2) in His quest to walk with the Father and glorify Him by overcoming temptation. When tempted by Satan, He quotes Deuteronomy 8:3: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). We should imitate Him!
Employment Point: Live victoriously through the power of God’s Word.
