Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named (Romans 15:20).
What is your ambition for Jesus?
Our Lord Jesus lays out the mission for the church through the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Moreover, He sets out a strategy for the early church, “and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Paul’s goal as derived from Jesus’ strategy for the church is to “preach the gospel, not where Christ was named." Three times, Paul uses the word “aim” in his writings (Romans 15:20; 2 Corinthians 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:11). The Greek term “aim” means to love honor. Its New Testament uses imply loving honor for God. We similarly should be ambitious for Jesus and ask Him to give us goals worthy of His glory!
Employment Point: Love to honor God through having an action plan derived from the Lord.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
