Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12).
Are you living in light of the merism in Psalm 103:12?
David, the psalmist, uses a merism to describe the mercy of God. A merism consists of two contrasting words that depict the completeness or entirety of something. The words “east” and “west” show two extremes and convey the vastness of God’s mercy to pardon our sins. Another example of the extent of God’s loving kindness to His children is given in the previous verse. “For as the heavens are high above the earth,” pens David, “So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him” (Psalm 103:11). One of God’s attributes is mercy. Since the Lord is eternal in nature, there is no limit to the mercy He can offer His children.
Employment Point: Bless the Lord for the many benefits He shares with us, including extending His mercy to us.
