King & KingdomsSample

Imagine not getting invited by your family to do something. Like the rest of your family goes out to celebrate a birthday in your family but you’re not invited! Instead you are left to do the chores around the house. That doesn’t sound fun. But this is what happened to David. His father invites all seven of his brothers to the sacrifice to be presented before Samuel, but he was not invited, and it doesn’t seem like his father was ever going to invite him because Samuel had to send for him.
In this broken world, we all feel unseen and unimpressive for a variety of reasons in our lives. But you can have hope this morning when you feel unseen because God sees you. God sees David! In verse 7 of our story, God tells Samuel when selecting the next king, “Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have rejected him. Humans do not see what the Lord sees, for humans see what is visible but the Lord sees the heart.” When it says God sees the heart it means God sees the real you. God sees and knows the real David. And he sees and knows the real you and he cares about you.
Think it Over: When are the times in life you most feel unseen?
