King & KingdomsSample

David was in the fields tending the sheep while his brothers and father were with the great prophet and judge Samuel, at the sacrifice. Then here comes a messenger running to get David because the prophet Samuel urgently sent for him. Imagine what is going through David’s mind when the messenger reaches him. “The prophet Samuel sent for me?” David arrives, and stands before Samuel, and we don’t know all that David knew of what was going on, but we know that Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David from that day forward. God chooses a lowly shepherd boy, overlooked, unseen according to the world, to be the next king over his people.
Now, God is not choosing you to be the next king, for Jesus is the ultimate king that David points to. But, if you are a follower of Jesus, God has chosen to save you from your sins, to be in a relationship with Him. How great is that?
Think it Over: Why is it good news that God has chosen to save you by His grace through faith in Jesus?
