King & KingdomsSample

What always happens at the end of a romantic movie? The lady leaves and the man pursues her, usually in the airport. Right before the woman gets on the plane, the man shows up at the gate, tells her he loves her and they get married.
All week we have been looking at how God pursued David to be His king despite how the world saw David as unimpressive. The world did not see David as worthy to be pursued, but God did. David was not worthy in himself for he was sinful just like we all are. But God sees David as worthy because He loves David.
The same is true for you and me. God loves us and pursues us to save us not because we are awesome. We are actually messy, sinful people. We only truly deserve death! But God sees you as worthy to be seen and pursued because He loves you and He is a gracious God! You know how I know that? Because of Jesus! 1 John 4:9, “God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son (Jesus) into the world so that we might live for him.”
Think it Over: Why is it freeing to believe that God pursues you not because of your perfectness, but because of His love for you?
