King & KingdomsSample

After years of fighting, working, wondering, wrestling, and striving, God had finally given David rest. The palace was established. The city was at peace. God had been so, so faithful. And as David looked around, he wondered why he should have such a great place to rest in when God, who had given him all this, didn't have any place to call home. So David set out to build God a temple.
Then God entered the conversation. And in this incredible moment, God decided to take a moment to remind David that the promise he made all those years ago wasn't over just because David had a palace. The promise was still at work, and would be all the way down the line to a future king through whom God would secure the promises of land, descendants, and blessing.
Think it Over: What does it tell you about God that the same promise he made to David led to Jesus and even now extends to us today?
