Do you tend to try and look at all the possible risks and come up with plans to avoid them? Or do you tend to jump headfirst into a situation, thinking you'll find a way through it? Most people sit somewhere between those two ends of the spectrum. What I love about this passage from Paul is that no matter where you're at, Jesus has you covered.
Look at this list - Paul walks us through each risk possible in following Jesus: are you afraid you'll do something to lose God's love? Look at verse 33. Are you afraid you'll cross a line that makes God turns his back on you? Look at verse 34. Are you afraid of what might happen physically to you? Look at verse 35. Anything else? Read verses 38-39.
Any risk we could face, Jesus has already made a way through. So, if you're a person who tries to think about every risk, anytime you're afraid to take a step after Jesus, read this list again and calm your fear. If you're a person who jumps in headfirst, then read this list to remind you where your confidence really comes from. Either way, Jesus has thought about everything and already made you able to conquer.
Think it Over: Where do you fall on the spectrum?
