In what has been a theme throughout the first five books of the Bible (also called the Pentateuch), God makes it clear to His people that His commands are possible to follow and His truth is accessible to them. Many ancient peoples thought that the meaning of life or the Gods' commands was out of reach or a mystery. The God of the Bible speaks a different truth: His ways were easy to find, and He would gladly lead His people; He even goes as far as to say that His message is in the Israelites' hearts (vs. 14). The goal is not to create lofty and impossible laws but to create obedient worshippers.
Think it Over: How does someone today obey God and His commands? Does this passage say His commands should be burdensome or easy?
