River Valley Church SOAP - Part 9Sample

Paul was continuing in his instruction to the church at Corinth. He affirms that there is an afterlife for our lives, and because of this, we must do all we can do to persuade people to come to Christ because we all will stand before Jesus at the Judgement Seat. Paul uses the term “Judgement Seat” because, in Corinth, this was a massive location where Governors issued decrees and decisions. Paul contrasts the differences in serving the one true God as a Father and other gods by asking rhetorical questions that can be referenced back to conflicts the children of Israel encountered when God made a covenant with them. Macedonia was in the middle of famine but remained faithful to support Paul’s message and ministry.
