“Give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have a new life.” (Romans 6:13 NLT)
You are free to make whatever choice you want but you are not free from the consequences of the choice. ~ Unknown
In order for change to be permanent, God wants us to replace our old patterns and behaviors with new ways of being. These new behaviors must be continually applied until they are consistent and habitual in our lives. Otherwise, when we feel afraid and vulnerable we will revert back to what we’ve always done.
Change will require the perfect blend of faith and action (2 Sam. 10:12). Once you’ve submitted your weight release to God, he will prompt you to move to higher levels of success in this area and all other areas of your life. What is the Holy Spirit prompting you to change first? There are probably a whole lot of areas where you feel you need to change. Identify them and choose one that you are going to commit to changing immediately.
Get up! Go! Grow! God called the Israelites to move from their present state of slavery to a life of freedom. Their journey was fraught with many challenges, and through them all, the Israelites went back to what they knew best—grumbling, complaining, living in disobedience, and worshiping false idols.
The result—40 years of wandering aimlessly for a journey that scholars estimate would take anywhere from 11 days to one year! Glory to God that he has given us a new heart and a new spirit that allows us to live by his rules and not our own (Ezek. 36:26-27).
Today’s Health Challenge
Take some time and find a scripture you will recite to ‘renew your mind’ every time you don’t stick to your goal. As you make a daily choice to stay focused on your goal, God will honor your commitment and strengthen you on the journey.
I am dead to sin. Your strength and grace has changed me and renewed me. I have a new life in You and do things that lead to holiness and joy. The power of Your life-giving Spirit has freed me from the power of sin. Your Spirit that controls my mind has given me life and peace.
I pray that these 7-days were a blessing to you and I hope that you will continue the great work that you have started.
