Weight Loss, God's Way by Healthy by Design

Day 6 of 7 • This day’s reading

Scripture Reflection

“Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” (Luke 22:40 NIV)

Pray more, worry less.

Is it really necessary to bring prayer into your weight loss program? Obviously, yes! Most people today want to lose weight. Many people pay good money to lose weight. Yet most people are still struggling with a weight issue.

Hands down, prayer is the most effective and precious gift that God has given us. It is an intimate time of communication with God. He invites us to request what we need and then trust him to meet our needs.

The power of prayer is life-changing. The more we reach out to God in prayer, the more we experience his transforming peace. Through prayer we war against our strongholds, we replace our fear with faith, and we receive his peace when nothing around us is peaceful. Through prayer God’s power gets downloaded into us.

Jesus asked the disciples to pray so that they would not fall into temptation (Luke 22:40). He knew that they were going to face many difficulties and wanted them to be proactive. After Jesus instructed them, he then walked away from them and prayed on his own. As he prayed, verse 43 says that "an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him."

Imagine praying and immediately being strengthened to continue on your journey. The same God that strengthened Jesus in the garden is the same God that will strengthen you in all your journeys. Trust him today to meet your needs by spending time in prayer with him. God always delivers on his promises!

Today’s Health Challenge

Prayer is one of our greatest weapons to war against the enemy; to align our will with God’s; and to help us to resist temptations. Based on where you currently are in your walk, this may or may not be an overwhelming exercise for you. Your health challenge today is to boldly say your prayer out loud. You can do it in the mirror or wherever you feel comfortable.

Today’s Confession

I thank You that I don’t have to be worried or anxious about anything. I bring my request to You with thanksgiving and stand with confidence that You will bring it to fruition. I know that You are able to do exceedingly above all that I can ask or think.
