The Will of God: Part 3Sample

The Will of the Lord is Justice
- Does this passage mean that God desires for certain people to be put to death Why or why not?
- Being put to death was a real consequence in the Old Testament for sinning against God. Why do you think this occurred more in the Old Testament than the New Testament when it came to consequences for our sins?
- Remember this, people in the Old Testament did not have the Holy Spirit inside of them to convict them of sin or speak to them in what ways are right. Without the Holy Spirit to change them, could they become more sanctified on this side of heaven? If so, how? If not, what should God do to stop the evil?
Ask God to help you better grasp the terrifying power of His Holiness. God’s will is for us to be made holy, not to be put to death for our sins. Thank Him for His amazing grace, mercy, and the role Jesus played to justify us on the cross. He bore our sins on our behalf so that we do not need to experience the wrath of God. God’s will for us is not to die, but to be made like Him through His Son. Take time to praise Him and be in awe of this incredible gift that we have been given.
