Shift: Gearing Up For Change

Day 1 of 5 • This day’s reading

Devotional

Transformation – a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance.

Change is a part of life.

Chances are, you’ve heard that phrase a million times before.

Yet few people ever take the time to fully digest the meaning.

Since inception, the world has gone through changes. In Genesis alone, think about all of the changes that God introduced. He brought light where there had been dark. Animals, plants, people, all of these creations go through changes within their own respective lives.

The difference between a newborn and an adult? Change.

Between an acorn and an oak tree? Change.

Between a caterpillar and a butterfly? Change.

Think about the metamorphosis that you yourself have gone through within one year. What did your life look like this time last year? What did you go through? What changed? What will it look like in a year from now?

Shifting can be painful. Even minor changes can still be felt. Change is scary. It’s hard. It’s painful, but it is also necessary. It is something that every living creature goes through.

For some people, a transformation can alter their life forever.

If you’re reading this right now and you need a change, understand that you can do it. Regardless of age. Regardless of circumstance. Regardless of difficulty, if you put your faith in God and you are willing to work hard at it, then you can change. On the other end, if you are currently going through some changes and transitions that are difficult, then keep going. Find the silver lining. Find the reason. Find the inner strength and peace within you that will allow you to get through this change and come out stronger.
