Exceeding Expectations
There are many stories in the Bible about Jesus surprising people by how loving, powerful, or gracious He was.
But there was a time when someone took Him by surprise. In Matthew 8, we read about a man who "amazed" Jesus with his faith. Imagine being a person that God was amazed by because of your faith!
What I love about this is that it wasn’t a typical “good church person” who amazed Jesus—it was an unlikely man who you could suspect had differing beliefs at the time. Someone who didn’t fit the “normal Jesus-follower look,” and honestly, most people in town didn’t like him all that much because of his job! He was just a man who put his trust in Jesus.
But what happened after Jesus was amazed is the amazing part for us. A life- changing and life-bringing miracle. And this is what I want you to know from now on: If you give God your attention, He has a habit of exceeding your expectations!
Don’t go to God with no expectation. Don’t just wait; take a step of faith. Because it is faith (action-based belief) that moves God.

- What do you think God is capable of doing in your life?
- What step of faith will you take that reflects that belief?
- Are you waiting for God to move before you do? Why?
