I use this Bible verse year after year on my Christmas card: John 1:14 “The Word became Flesh…” If you studied Greek gods at all in school you would know that they had some crazy issues: temper, pride, lust, etc. Each god was assigned a power: goddess of love, the sun god, etc. But the One True God has come down to Earth in the form of a human to show us what His Father is really like so that we don’t have to guess. We can get to know the heart of God by observing His son Jesus closely. You see, Moses gave us the laws of God, the standard of how perfect we had to be to live up to His holiness. Read through some of the laws in Exodus and Leviticus and you will see why we need Jesus. Yes, God is Holy but the law is there to show us how badly we need Jesus. He alone is perfect and can pay for all our sins. In Him we receive grace. God’s heart is to be close to His children. 

Questions:

1. Who do you like to “dwell” (hang out) with? Why?

2. What areas do you find it hardest to obey God’s law? (do not steal, covet, gossip, lust, pride, etc.)

3. If Jesus shows us what God is like…what is God like?
