Remember Mary? Mary became pregnant by the Spirit of God. This miracle caused Joseph to question her faithfulness. Did she cheat on him before they were married? He almost broke off their engagement until an angel appeared to him as well, to confirm this truly was the son of God that Mary was pregnant with. Well, Joseph may have believed her but what about everyone else from her hometown? 

In these verses you will see Mary urging her son to finally reveal who He is: The Son of God. Maybe she wanted people to know she was telling the truth. Maybe she just wanted people to know Jesus in all of His fullness. Up until now, Jesus had chosen not to reveal all of who He was. His first miracle, turning water into wine, is at the heart of who He is. These wedding hosts were about to be completely embarrassed—they ran out of wine. Jesus showed up and provided what they needed, when they needed it. Look closely at verse 10: “You have saved the best until now.” When God provides He gives us more than we can ask for (Ephesians 3:20-21). He gives us His best!
