For this reason, I DREAM  

Steve Jobs completely changed the world through Apple. He put computers into the palms of our hands. Chances are good that you are reading this from a device that was vastly influenced by the life of Steve Jobs. Early on in the company, Steve needed to hire a CEO, so he reached out to John Sculley, the CEO of Pepsi. Sculley had not wanted to take the job with Apple but Jobs was persistent. Eventually, Jobs pushed Sculley over the edge with this statement, “Look, do you want to sell bottled sugar water for the rest of your life, or do you want to come with me and change the world?” Sculley resigned from Pepsi within days.

This is the perfect example of someone who had a great vision. He could see what the future was supposed to look like. He could imagine what would take place in the decades to come. He was persuaded that he would put a dent in the universe with nothing more than a vision. 

Vision is one of the most powerful tools at our disposal. Vision is seeing a future that no one else is seeing. We all have sight, which comes from our eyes. Sight is seeing what everyone else sees, but vision is the sight of your heart which no one but you can see.

Jesus had a vision like none other. When he met Peter he simply said, “Follow me.” He knew that would be enough to hook him, transforming Peter from fisherman to pastor. He gathered all of His disciples and knew that Christianity would infect the planet through them because He could see it. It was His vision. And He would stop at nothing to ensure that it came to pass, even death couldn’t stop Him.

God has placed faith and vision in you, so dream something up! And dream big while you do it! Envision the future and keep on dreaming what it could look like. Your vision could be local: that God would use you to share His goodness with your family, friends, and community. Your vision could be global, that God would work through you to do something so big that, if God doesn’t show up, it won’t happen. Begin to dream, but even more, partner with God and His vision will burn in your heart. And THAT will change the world.

2. APPLY: What ONE THING can you do today that would help you move closer to the vision that God has put in you r heart?

3. PRAY: God, give me a passionate vision for my life. Help me to follow You through it all, remaining persistent when it gets difficult. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
