For this reason, I believe!  

Have you ever experienced something so good that you couldn't believe it? Maybe you won a giveaway on social media, or you got hired at that job that you thought you would never get. Some times it's hard for us to believe all the good that God has done for us. Maybe you have experienced something amazing at a church service or a summer camp that was so real, but after days, weeks, or months go by you can sometimes wonder if the experience was even real. 

We can see a similar response by one of Jesus’ disciples: Thomas. After seeing all the miracles and works of Jesus first hand, he still didn't believe Jesus rose from the dead. Thomas said to the other disciples, “Unless I see the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” Thomas wanted evidence that Jesus was alive, and what is amazing is how Jesus was still willing to show up and allow Thomas to touch His hands and side so he could believe. 

The truth is, there is evidence all around us pointing to God’s power and goodness, and for this reason, I believe. Remember, a lot of what we will experience from God is a spiritual and internal work that is not visible to the eye. Jesus tells Thomas “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Let’s choose to believe in God’s goodness and promises.

1. REFLECT: Think on the moment that you first believed in Jesus. Why did you believe?

2. APPLY: Think of five good things that God has done in your life.

3. PRAY: Jesus, help my unbelief and allow me to see all the evidence of your goodness in my life. Amen
