Together - Daily DevotionalSample

Teacher
To teach is to explain or remind someone of something that was not previously understood or forgotten. We thank God for the ministry gift of teachers in the body of Christ (1 Cor.12:28, Eph.4:11). But we thank Jesus who promised, “the Holy Spirit, whom my Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you” (John 14:26).
How does the Holy Spirit teach? By highlighting and applying to our hearts the words of Scripture as we read them and especially the teachings of Jesus: By giving us a personal understanding and application of God’s truth, perhaps even as human teachers are speaking: By giving us a revelation of God’s heart of love, mercy and grace: Finally by personal revelation of the person and work of Jesus (Matt.16:15-17, John 16:7-15).
In Matthew 16 Jesus asked the question, “Who am I?” Peter’s response was to declare Him “the Son of the living God”. Jesus reaction was to explain that Peter had received a supernatural revelation from God, not a human answer from intuition or logic. We need the Holy Spirit to teach us spiritual truths in spiritual words.
Prayer: Holy Spirit may you open my eyes to see and understand spiritual truths in Your word
